The art of good writing is the art of good communication. Becoming a better writer will enrich one’s life as writing is a great way to learn and refine one’s knowledge about a topic. This article will discuss how to improve your writing skills and become a better communicator.

The first step to better writing is to make the writing easy and entertaining to read. The paragraphs should not be too long or too short. The paragraphs should also vary in length to bring variety to the page. The sentences should likewise not be too long or too short but should also vary in length.

The second step to better writing is to have good structure which makes the writing easy to follow. A good introduction alerts the reader as to what the writing will be about. The writing should then have a good body which is fully developed through well written paragraphs and sentences. Finally, it is necessary to have a good conclusion which summarizes the body of the writing and satisfies what the introduction stated would be accomplished by the writing.

The third step to better writing is to use vivid words which allow the reader to visualize what the writer is trying to express. The writer should use the active voice when emphasizing facts and the passive voice when downplaying facts.

The fourth step to better writing is to carefully follow proper rules of grammar and to perform careful editing. Redundant words must be deleted and the writing must be as concise as possible.

To conclude, good writing is good communication. Proper structure, proper wording, and careful editing will result in a product which the reader will enjoy. These rules will improve writing skills and allow for creation of a work that will make the writer proud.
